Psychological interventions in the early stages are essential to helping children cope with issues related to their development and learning.It includes behavioral issues, emotional regulation or excessive technology use. By tackling these issues early on, children will be able to develop positive and healthy ways to cope. They will develop good status socially and emotionally, perform academically at a higher level, and decrease the likelihood of the issues becoming more challenging over a longer period. Parents will also benefit from learning practical strategies to support and understand their child’s needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pediatric department of Stanford offers specialized Pediatric Mental Health Services for children in Abu Dhabi with a range of Mental Health Issues such as, ADHD and anxiety disorders. The Department also operates a proprietary program called GMDE which focuses on ensuring children have positive mental and emotional development through playful child-focused activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The GMDE Program: Growing Minds in the Digital Era<\/span><\/h2>\n

Summer temperatures often reach 40 degrees in Abu Dhabi, leaving children unable to play outside for months at a time. Families in Al Bateen, Al Reem, and Saadiyat substitute screen time for the physical activity of playing outside during this period. This typically develops habits of excessive screen use during summer months that are continued into the school year.<\/span><\/p>\n
